Adeleke Inaugurates Osun CDC Executive, Distributes 5 Operational Vehicles

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has charged the newly inaugurated executive of Community Development Council in the State to use their wealth of experiences towards improving the socio economic lives of the people at the grassroots.

This is just as the government distributed five operational vehicles to the Community Development Council for community mobilisation.

The governor stated this on Monday the Inauguration which Held at Government House, Osogbo

In his speech, governor Adeleke urged the elected council executive to offer constructive advice and suggestions that would assist government in enhancing the living standards of the citizenry.

He said “Community Development Council, as a non-governmental Organization, is saddled with the responsibility of complementing the efforts of government by embarking on viable self-help projects towards meeting your immediate needs.

“This is based on your realization that government, no matter how magnanimous, can meet all the people’s needs, yearnings and aspirations. You are equally looked upon as partner in progress with government on matters of securing government’s properties in your neighbourhood.

“This responsibility is very germain especially at this period when the nation is battling with security challenges that are seriously affecting our livelihood. I want to charge you to harness your diverse wealth of experiences to make remarkable contributions towards improving the socio economic lives of the people at the grassroots through constructive advise and other meaningful suggestions that will further assist government to enhance the living standards of her citizenry.”

The governor, however assured the new executive that his administration would not renege on the avowed commitment to provide good governance to the people of the State.

He noted that the government would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders who are ready to key into various development agenda and other intervention efforts as contained in the administration’s 5-point Agenda.

Earlier in his address, the State Commissioner For Rural Development And Community Affairs Hon. Ganiyu Ola-oluwa stated that the new executive members emerged through a well conducted election.

He noted that they are trained grassroots mobilizers that would pilot the affairs of Community Development Council at the Local, Zonal and State levels in the State for the next four years.

Hon Ola-oluwa said “This ceremony, is a product of a well conducted election of Community Development Council Executives in the Local Government Councils, including Zonal and State levels. In all, a total of Seven hundred sixty four (764) Executive members were elected under a free and fair atmosphere produced.

“I therefore have the honour and privilege to present to your Excellency, the Elected Community Development Council Executives who are trained grassroots mobilizers that will continue to pilot the affairs of Community Development Council at the Local, Zonal and State levels in Osun State in the next four years.

“Permit me to state that Community Development Council members which cut across all the nooks and crannies of Osun State are people of proven integrity who come together to complement Government’s efforts by embarking on viable self-help projects, having realized that governments, no matter how magnanimous cannot meet all the needs, yearnings and aspirations of her citizenry.

“Government on her side, provides incentive/ encouragement for them by providing Grant-in-aid to support such projects. This gesture was enjoyed last in the State in the year 2013.”

Delivering his address, the chairman of the newly inaugurated Community Development Council, Alhaji Agbajelola Salam said, the Council was ready to align with the developmental agenda of Governor Adeleke, adding that they would also encourage all members to key in.

Alhaji Salam said “this newly inaugurated Community Development Council promises to carry out all policy decisions of government on developmental programmes and activities with zeal and passion to ensure delivery of dividends of democracy across the State.

“This address shall remain incomplete without mentioning the laudable role of our dear grassroot henchman in the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs, Osun State, who has made our emergence and today’s inauguration possible without any itch. He is no other person than the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry, Alhaj Gani OlaOluwa Asejere, together with his formidable team of reliable staff of the Ministry, headed by the Acting Permanent Secretary and Director of Community Affairs, Alhaji Lateef Adedapo.”
