Apomu, Ikoyi Communities: Osun LG Commissioner Advocates Peaceful Co-existence

…says status quo should remain on Baale Ile- Ire

The Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Dosu Babatunde has solicited peaceful co- existence among the people of Apomu and Ikoyi Communities in Isokan Local Government area of the State.

He made the plea at a meeting with the Alapomu of Apomu and Olukoyi of Ikoyi along with the Chairmen of the two Councils areas.

Babatunde maintained that peaceful co-existence in the society is the pillar that supports many aspects of human life, while appealing to the two Communities to live together in harmony.

He added that the status quo should remain, at present, on the issue of Baale of Ile – ire, urging the two communities to allow peace to reign .

He emphasized the need for love, cordial relationship and mutual respect between the two monarchs which, he noted, will forster better understanding and harmonious relationship.

The two monarchs, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, Alapomu of Apomu and Oba Iyiola Taofeek Akande, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi, in their separate remarks acknowledged that the two communities are intervowen through intermarrige, culture and tradition and promised to continue to live together as brothers and sisters.

They also thanked the State Government for the quick intervention on the matter.

In attendance were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogundun,Caretaker Chairmen of the two Councils and their Heads of Local Government Administration.
