FEDPOEDE Structure Collapse: ASUP Chapter Calls for Investigation Panel for Rescue Mission

I have always been exonerated of allegations by ASUP – Rector

Academic staff union of polytechnic (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic, Ede wants the Federal Government to set up a high power investigation panel to prevent an alleged total collapse of the institution.
The union made the demand during a press conference organised Wednesday, on the campus of the institution to intimate relevant stakeholders including, government and the general public on the event playing out in the school.
The investigation panel is expected to find a way to restore academic quality, administrative uprightness and prevent breakdown of law and order in the polytechnic community.
The demand was coming as a result of a 27 point allegations leveled against the rector of the polytechnic, Dr. John  Adekolawole ranging from maladministration, highhandedness to victimisation of staff by way of indiscriminate issuance of queries, false allegations and threat.
Dr. Adekolawole was alleged of unwarranted removal of elected Deans and Head of Departments in order to install his puppets.
He was also alleged to have appointed unconfirmed staff and individual with questionable character into the Anti- Corruption and Transparency monitoring Unit of the polytechnic.
“The Rector, Dr. J.T Adekolawole had refused to pay substantial part of legitimate earnings of members of staff through non-remittance of cooperative deductions and target savings to the tune of over 200 million naira”, the union alleged.
Responding to the call, the Rector, Dr. John Adekolawole said the management is unfazed by the demand for investigation panel since all attempts in the past have always exonerated him.
Dr. Adekolawole said the war against his leadership started 6 months into his assumption of office and despite having other staff and students’ unions in the polytechnic, ASUP whose members are two-third of the academic staff has always been at loggerheads with the management.
He said the ASUP has been grossly unfair to the management by glossing over various achievements recorded in academic and research by the polytechnic with frivolous and unfounded allegations against it.
