Six Feared Dead As Military Plane Crash-lands In Abuja
People who were on board a military aircraft King Air 350 were feared dead on Sunday.
While awaiting details on the cause of the crash, Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, who has confirmed the incident said it crashed ‘short of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja runway after reporting engine failure’.
Number of causalities has not been announced but the minister says ‘ it appears to ‘be fatal’. He urged calm while appealing to Nigerians to wait for the outcome of investigations by the military authorities.
It was gathered that the plane belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF201), a B350 aircraft which departed Abuja at 1033UTC with 6 persons on board including two crew was conveying them to Minna.
The aircraft that reported engine failure crashed on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22.
Reports say fire fighters have since arrived at the scene
