Suspended Industrial Action: Osun Residents Hail Organised Labour
A cross section of Residents of Osun State have commended the Labour Unions for suspending planned industrial action after meeting with the federal Government.
Adebayo Daoudu and Kayode On I who spoke to our correspondent expressed fear that the planned strike would have worsened the nation’s precarious economy situation.
They are elated that the labour Unions and the federal Government were able to reach a compromise after the meeting which lasted for hours.
In Osun State, workers in public and private Schools, commercial banks, civil servants among others resumed at their duty posts on Monday morning in compliance with the suspension of the planned strike.
Meanwhile, the State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Jacob Adekomi and his Trade Union counterpart, Adekola Adebowale in separate interview told Daily Mail that the suspension of the industrial action was not a surprise.
They said, labour unions prefer issues to be discuss in a roundtable than embarking on industrial action which is usually the last resort.
They urge the federal Government to honour the whatever agreement the committee set up reach to assuage the economic condition.
