We Are At Political Crossroads – Osun Monarch

…Says Oba-Ile is politically maginalised by government at all levels

The Oloba of Oba-lle, Oba (Prof.) Adekunle Asamu Oyeyemi has decried the neglect of the town by successive administrations of all tiers of governments in Nigeria.

Although, the monarch reiterated the resolve of his people to continue to bring developments to the town, he urged government at all levels to reciprocate active and significant contributions of the town to the political development of the country by giving them their fair share of dividends of democracy.

“”Our schools are not in good condition, the roads are bad. I am very proud to say that the state government has never establish a school in Oba lle, it is the community that owns all the schools in Oba lle. The only exception is Apostolic church. We do not wait for the government to move on with development of the community before execution. We are therefore looking to federal, state and local governments for intervention” Oba Oyeyemi lamented.

However, the Oloba Ile who felicitated winners in the just concluded 2023 general elections, particularly congratulated the president-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and prayed for their successes in their various offices.

He said “ours is to support any government in power and pray for them to succeed so that we will witness progress and developments, so that they can also bring the dividends of democracy to where they govern.”

On the 2023 Oba-Ile, the monarch said, the grand finale of the celebrations would hold on Saturday and friend and well wishers of the town are expected to join in the celebrations.

He noted that people of the neighbouring town were invited to join especially, to come and display and sell their goods at Oba-Ile market in the spirit of togetherness and unity.

“Oba-lle day is reflecting farming. Even if you interrogate our Childrens abroad, they would trace back to their origin and reveal farming as the main source of income of most of their parents. We are a great farmers.”

“We call on all citizens and friends of Oba-Ile to celebrate with us as the grand finale and fund raising of the 2023 edition of the day will hold at Aderounmu Grammar school, Oba-lle on Saturday, 29th April, by 10.00am”

“Our ancestors picked Oba-lle day and it is commemorated every year in various ways. This year’s celebration of the day will last for three days. Also, take note that Oba-lle town, which has its roots in Osun, predates other settlements with the same name in other regions of the country. To celebrate, they will all assemble here.”
