The Governor of Osun State, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has formally received the All Progressives Congress governorship nomination form from his political associates.

This is just as the Governor granted the request to run as the party’s flag-bearer in the 2022 Osun state governorship election, saying he’s highly elated by the gesture.

Recalled that few weeks ago, some of the governor’s cabinet members and friends including the Senate Spokesperson, Dr Ajibola Bashiru picked the Governorship nomination and intent forms at the party Secretariat in Abuja on behalf of the Governor.

Presenting the forms to the Governor, the State chairman of the party who led other ‘friends of the Governor’, Prince Gboyega Famodun noted that the presentation of the forms was mandate of all party members in the state.

He however stated that for the sake of democracy whomsoever believe they can contest the primary election with Oyetola can exercise their right, saying the party is not foreclosing anything.

In his reaction, Governor Oyetola who appreciated the gesture said it would encourage him to stay focused and remain committed to pursuing the agenda of putting the state on the path of progress.

He noted that the gesture offers him the opportunity to develop and build on the foundation already laid by his administration in the last over three years.

“Sincerely I m overwhelmed by the show of love I have received today, I must thank everybody who are here and those who contributed to purchase the forms. It is an inspiration for me to do more, an inspiration for me not to be distracted, an inspiration for me to offer myself more for service.

“It has been years of laying the foundation, and the years to come would be years of building on the foundation. I accept without any reservation your request to run once more,” Oyetola stated.

Earlier in his remarks, chairman, Osun APC Elders Council, Pa Shola Akinwumi congratulated the Governor for remarkable achievements of his administration, saying it was only possible because of his refusal to be intimidated and distracted.

He said, “I congratulate you became you have refused to be intimidated and distracted that is why some of us are attracted and so much attached to you.

“Good product has no boundary. They wanted to dragged you into their nonsense so as to distract you but you remain focused. I m so happy you have driven your detractors methodically into the ocean.”
