Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico and former Speaker Osun state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adejare Bello has expressed concernes at the hardships being expressed by Nigerians over the monetary policy of Government, related to Naira redesign.

Answering questions from panelists on The Frontliners, a personality audience participatory programme organised by the Osun state Chapter of Association of Veteran Journalists, the Envoy describes Nigeria as a difficult country to live, especially with the socio-economic crisis thrown up by government’s monetary and fiscal policy.

Bello believed that the haste in implementing the Federal Government cashless policy would have negative effects on the prospect of the ruling All Progressive Congress in the February General Elections except a review of the policy is made in accordance with the Supreme Court ruling, recommendations of the APC Governors forum and the Council of State.

He charged Leaders of the APC in the Southwest not to allow the crisis destroy the rights and opportunity of the Yorubas at ensuring the victory of the party’s presidential flagbearer in the february polls.

Responding to questions on the challenges confronting Nigeria’s quest for a sustainable democracy, Ambassador Bello remarked that citizens participation in the electoral process has dwindled over the years, but recent developments in the country have ignited greater interest of Nigerians particularly the youth population in the electoral process with optimism that the forthcoming General Elections would reflect the paradigm shift.

The envoy traced the Mexico – Nigeria economic and cultural relations to a forty six(46) year membership of G20 developing Nations, but noted that Mexico as opposed to Nigeria has built a highly advanced agricultural program and a localized automobile industry which have pushed the country’s budget to over 400 billion dollars.

He disclosed that the political decision by the Mexican Government is culturally influenced due to the high premium placed on the development of the country’s rich cultural potentials.
