Demonstrators in Benin City, the Edo State capital have broken the walls of the headquarters of the Nigeria Correctional Centre (Nigeria prisons in Benin).

Many inmates have been freed by the protesters after gaining entrance into the prison through the fence

Daily Mail gathered that prison inmates were seen along Benin Sapele Road, near Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ office.

It was also gathered that one of the freed inmates have been rearrested by prison officials.

The hoodlums overpowered officials of the prison who confronted them in heavy gunshots.

They also destroyed valuable property at the High Court Four, which is near the prison and other places in the area before the quick intervention of security agents.
