One killed, Many Injured As Masquerade Attacked Mosque In Osun
One person was reportedly killed as many others injured on Sunday when some armed masquerades attacked a mosque at Oluode Aranyin area of Osogbo, Osun state capital.
Daily Mail learnt that the incident occurred around 2:30 pm on Sunday.
It was gathered that the masquerades had earlier staged a threatening walk before stoning members of the Kamorudeeen Islamic Society who were holding a prayer at the mosque.
According to some victims of the attack, the masquerades arrived at a place close to the venue of the programme in company of some policemen and Amotekun corps members.
The victims also said the masquerades later started shooting them when the police had left.
A prominent member of the society, the Baba Ijo of the mosque simply identified as Moshood Salawudeen was killed in the process.
The Imam of the Mosque, Qusum Yunus confirmed the incident to Osun Defender Correspondent.
He said members of the society were attacked by the masquerades during a program tagged “Prayer for the Nation” to pray for Nigeria over the rising insecurity.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 2:30 pm on Sunday.
