… Omipidan, Tadese, others celebrate media guru
…as islamic cleric urges Nigerians to exercise patience with FG’s economic reforms
The residents of Iwoland on Sunday eulogised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of the illustrious son of the ancient town, Alhaji Tunde Rahman, as his Senior Special Assistant on Media.
The people of the town who assembled at the multipurpose hall of Royal Hotel in Iwo, for a thanksgiving and prayer session, organised by the Independent Group to appreciate God and President Tinubu on the elevation of one of them, described Rahman’s appointment as ‘a round peg in a round hole.’
Similarly, the former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan; former Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Dr. Amidu Tadese, among other dignitaries extolled Rahman’s virtues who they described as a thoroughbred professional.
This is even as a renowned Islamic Scholar and Grand Mufty of Iwoland, Alhaji Dawood Molasan, urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the Federal Government in the ongoing socioeconomic reforms occasioned by the subsidy removal.
The event which was put together to offer fervent prayers for the successful tenure in office of Mr. President and his team in general and Rahman in particular has in attendance sons and daughters of the town.
Speaking, Sheikh Molasan expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for finding the son of the town worthy of the appointment based on merit.
The cleric who implored Nigerians to continue to support the administration of President Tinubu in its avowed commitment to transform the country, said the current socioeconomic realities were testaments to great things awaiting Nigeria.
According to him, the effect of the subsidy removal at the moment has no doubt posed hardship in the national economic living of the citizenry, but added that in no distant time the country will soon overcome the challenges.
The Islamic Scholar maintained that the administration of President Tinubu meant well for Nigerians, just as he expressed optimism in the capacity and competence of the Tinubu led-government to take Nigeria and Nigerians to enviable heights.
“In view of the current situation in the country occasioned by the economic reality, I want to appeal to Nigerians to bear with the present administration as it has been very preoccupied to transform the country.
“We are all concerned on the current situation, and in the light of this, we must begin to rally round the government at all levels in a bid to overcome the situation as soon as possible.
“As citizens, it is apposite to be bothered in a situation like this but the reality remains that the current socioeconomic situation is a catalyst to prosperity and all round success for all and sundry”, he said.
The cleric who hailed the new SSA to the President on Media for being a pride not only to Iwoland or Osun and Nigeria but indeed in the global media profession as an accomplished journalist of no mean repute, prayed for his success in office.
In his goodwill message, Omipidan, described Rahman’s appointment as ‘much expected’, saying he has no doubt in his mind that the media guru would make the nation proud.
“Alhaji Rahman’s humility and willingness to serve others have left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him as he possesses an exceptional combination of character, competence, capacity, and outstanding human relations.
“Apart from the fact he has been with Mr. President for some years before the election, he has demonstrated capacity and knowledge to protect, preserve, promote and project the image of Asiwaju over years. He has also demonstrated unparalleled loyalty to Asiwaju and whatever he represents.
“Beyond his professional achievements, Rahman’s commitment to fostering good human relations is awe-inspiring. He treats everyone with respect and empathy, making him approachable and easy to work with”, Omipidan said.
Also, the former Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr. Tadese expressed optimism in the ability and capacity of the new SSA Media to deliver.
According to him, Tunde Rahman has been a prolific writer and seasoned journalist who had graciously carved a cliche for himself in the media profession not only as an accomplished journalist of reputable standard but also as a man of integrity.
Tadese assured that the new SSA would use his good office to orchestrate more developments to Iwo in particular, Osun and Nigeria in general.
A younger brother to the new SSA, Mr. Ismail Rahman commented President Tinubu for rewarding loyalty in the life of his elder brother.
“I must acknowledge Mr. President for finding him worthy of this appointment which I believe strongly that he would deliver as expected.”
Sheikhs Isiak Abolaji; Abdul-Rasaq Fasasi among other clerics offered prayers for the new SSA just as they implored him to always put the interest of the town at heart.
