A bomb explosion has rocked Konduga town in Borno State, killing at least 11 residents and injuring several others.

The explosion took place Friday night in front of a local cinema, located beside the Konduga fish market.

According to the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), many of the injured were taken to the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, security forces have been deployed to the scene to secure the area and begin investigations.

Konduga is located about 36 kilometres from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. This is the first suicide-related bombing in the town in nearly a year.
