Governor Abdulrasaq condemns stealing of palliatives meant for flood victims
Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has condemned the attack by hoodlums on the cargo terminal and Agro-Mall Ilorin to steal palliatives.
The Governor said the government was already distributing the palliatives to the victims of the recent flood that impacted communities across Kwara, saying government had earlier flagged off the distribution in September.
“I was in Likpata, Edu Local Government, to comfort our people whose houses and farmlands were badly affected in the recent flooding. In Lafiagi, I also witnessed the distribution of palliatives to those affected by the recent flood plaguing communities in the area” Abdulrasaq said.
“We have discussed with Mr President and we‘re working with the lawmakers from Kwara to push for timely dredging and desilting of the River Niger and the dams as a lasting solution to the flood crisis. We hope to see some concrete steps taken in this direction as soon as possible”.
Governor Abdulrasaq added that government had set up a committee whose report would help to adequately mobilize resources to support the victims to add to the distribution of food palliatives which started on Tuesday.
