The lawmakers threw their weights behind the present administration at the Government House during their solidarity visit to the Governor over the recent assassination attempt on him and wanton destruction and massive looting of property.
The Osun APC National Assembly Caucus are Sen. Bashir Ajibola(Osun Central); Sen. Adelere Oriolowo(Osun West); Hon. Bukola Oyewo (Osogbo Federal Constuency); Hon. Yinusa Amobi (Iwo Federal Constuency); Hon. Lekan Afolabi (Ifelodun Federal Constuency); Hon. Taiwo Oluga (Irewole Federal Constuency); Babatunde Ayeni (Ijesa-South Federal Constuency) and Hon. Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, the Chairman of the Osun State APC Caucus in the National Assembly and Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Sen. Bashir Ajibola, expressed satisfaction at the way and manner the governor has been managing the affairs of the State in the last one and half years.
Ajibola acknowledged the administrative acumen, high sense of capacity and competence displayed by the Governor to restore peace and normalcy to the State.
He said Osun has distinguished itself as a well-organised State as demonstrated in the way and manner it manages the raging security challenges occasioned by the EndSARS protest and massive destruction and looting.
Ajibola who is also the Senate Spokesman, said members of the caucus deemed it necessary to visit the Governor as a prime way to show their unflinching support and solidarity for the government.
He added that the visit was also aimed to sympathise with those who have lost their loved ones, property and belongings to the unimaginable incidents.
“The purpose of our visit is to assess the damage occasioned by mindless people and the lawlessness of the unscrupulous elements in our State.
“We are also here to show our sympathy to the State and all those affected to the incident. We are also here to show our solidarity to the Governor and the government and pass our commendations on the government under the leadership of our Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.
“We are not in any way against protest, but it is important to know that EndSARS protest is a protest that had taken too far to the door of anarchy.
“In any society, protest is a recognised thing to express disagreement or grievances over a particularly occurrence either to the people or government but it shouldn’t be allowed to cause violence.
“As caucus of our party in the National Assembly, we must also commend your Excellency that notwithstanding the challenge we had, you were able to wade in and act to ensure that the anarchical tendencies didn’t degenerate into things that could destabilise our state.
“We commend the curfew declared and the enforcement of the law to ensure that our State is peaceful and that there is stability in our State.
“We commend you greatly for this laudable efforts to secure our State. We equally commend your government that in spite of the meagre resources, you still announced the implementation of minimum wage to workers and of course you also lifted ban on the embergo placed on promotions, conversions and annual salary increment.
“On behalf of my colleagues, rest assured of the cooperation of the APC caucus in the National Assembly as we are determined to continue to support the monumental achievements you are making on behalf of our party for the development of our State.
We are determined to continue to support you for all the good works you have been doing. We are resolute to continue to support you. We are not deterred, we are not discouraged but remain resolute and committed to the growth and development of our state”, he added.
In his remarks, the Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola expressed delight at the visit, just as he reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to guarantee the security of life and property of the citizenry.
Governor Oyetola, who described the visit as a testimony to the oneness and unity among the leadership and members of the ruling party, promised to continue to build the vanguard of peace, unity and stability.
