Uniosun Teaching Hospital Osogbo Appreciates Philanthropists

The Chief Medical Director, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Professor Peter Olaitan has called on well-to-do individuals in the society to always respond to the needs of the less privileged.

The appeal was made recently during an award presentation to some distinguished personalities for their tremendous contributions towards the needs of the patients in UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

In a release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Ayodele Adeyemo, the CMD revealed that between 2009 and 2020, about 50 Million Naira was donated by the philanthropists to patients who otherwise would have suffered or died due to financial lack saying such patients remain eternally grateful.

He thanked them for rising up in times of need of the patients at critical times adding that God will not forget their labour of love.

Prof. Olaitan lauded them saying, “we want to make today a day to celebrate you, a day to say thank you, a day to say we appreciate what you have done, a day to say God bless you”.

While urging the awardees not to relent in their good deeds, Professor Olaitan used the occasion to call on other well-to-do individuals in the state to come and ”sow in fertile land” of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo as the hospital is in need of other things like buildings and wards that could be named after such donors.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Babatunde Afolabi appreciated the Awardees for their contribution towards saving lives of the patients and encouraged others to borrow from the Awardees by contributing their own little quota to the hospital’s Itunu Fund as nothing is too small to give to better the lives of others. *ITUNU FUND* is a special endowment account dedicated to the needs of the hospital’s patients.

While responding on behalf of the other awardees, High Chief Popoola Bolarinwa, Chairman, Mosobalaje Foundation, commended the Management of the Hospital for recognizing their contributions towards bringing succor to the needy patients.

High Chief Bolarinwa delved on the essence of serving God and Humanity. He commended to other Nigerians his personal motto of  “Help me to serve others that I may serve thee”.

The Awardees are, Alhaji Chief Hammed Omidiran, High Chief  Alhaji  Popoola Bolarinwa, Rafiu Oduwoye, Alhaji Lukeman Oduwoye, and Mr. Akanji Olukunle.
