The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council has condemned in strong term an open assault meted out to one of its members , Mr Adeniyi Akinromade, by former speaker of Osun State House of Assembly and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico, Adejare Bello.

A statement by the Chairman of the council, comrade Wasiu Ajadosu and the Secretary,Comrade Bukola Elufadejin said it is least expected a person of Adejare status to engage in such public assault on a journalist, who was rendering social service at Oke -fia area of Osogbo metropolis.

The statement frowned at the undignified attitude of Mr Adejare for descending so low to the point of physically assaulting a citizen of Nigeria.

It noted that the union would no longer tolerate attempt by any individual irrespective of social status to subject journalists to inhuman treatment.

The union therefore demands an apology from the former speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adejare Bello and warned against reoccurrence of such act.
