Adire Eleko Osun Group Applauds Gov Oyetola On Adire Promotion

The Adire Eleko Osun Multipurpose Cooperating Society Ltd, has commended the State government on its drive to transform the Adire industry.

Adire Eleko is group of professional Adire makers recently inaugurated by the Osun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

In a statement released and made available to Daily Mail by the President of the group, Mr. Ganiyu Ibikunle, the group applauded the State government’s declaration of every Thursday as Adire Osun Day and also the compulsory wearing of the local fabric by all public and civil servants on the day in the State.

The statement described Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a trailblazer and visionary governor for giving the directive in a bid to preserve and promote Adire industry.

It noted that the support would go a long way in empowering the Adire makers and also promoting the State which is widely known for Adire making not only within the country but outside its sores.

According to the release “The President called on the State government for more support to the Adire Eleko Osun Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd for its sustainability and making the way for the State as the Adire hub where youth in our state can be empowered.

“The State government should provide business and other supports to Adire makers to explore the market locally and internationally.

“The state government should make it compulsory for the government procurement unit to patronize the group to lead by example to private organizations in the state.

Ibikunle assured that with government collaboration, the Adire industry has potentials to create job opportunities for 50,000 youths and increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.” the statement added.

It said the President however encouraged all Adire makers across the state to embrace the initiative and join the group for quality control and strong support from the state government.

“Enumeration has begun in all the local government areas across the state, through cultural officers for the betterment of the Adire industry.” the statement noted.
