Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing just weeks after his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

“Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year. Jesus is king now and forever”, Fury, 36, captioned the short video uploaded to his Instagram account to announce the decision

“Thanks; it’s been a blast, I enjoyed every minute of it” He said

Fury had announced his retirement multiple times before today. Fury announced he was quitting after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but returned to action later that year.

The Manchester-born boxer lost his last fight to Usyk by unanimous decision last December, and it now means the expected fight against Anthony Joshua would no longer happen.

Asked after the Usyk fight whether the public would see him fight again, Fury said: “You might do, you might not do. Who knows?”

Fury enjoyed two stints as heavyweight champion and retires with a record of 34 wins, two defeats and one draw.
