The President, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), His Eminence: Rev. Dr. Olasupo Ayokunle has urged Nigerians to embrace religious tolerance and stop the habit of fighting in the name of God.

This is just as he commended Osun Commissioner for Finance who is also the Balogun Musulumi of Ikire land, Mr Bola Oyebamiji for sponsoring the completion of an ultramodern Secretariat for CAN, Irewole Local Government.

Speaking further at the the official commissioning of the edifice in Ikire, the CAN president expressed delight that the Commissioner who is a devote Muslim has shown the way to go to every member of the society, stressing that people should extend the hand of fellowship to other religious faiths.

According to him, “Bola Oyebamiji is someone my family has been very close to for the past 20 years and he has always been like this, he is a very good and tolerant man to everybody no matter your religion, I have always known him to be partaker in the work of God be it in the church or mosque.

“I must say this is laudable, this is what we have been preaching, harmonious relationship between all religions. It is exactly what God wants, this is the only way we can achieve true peace in our nation. It is nice to know that the sponsor of this project for CAN Irewole is a devout Muslim, this gladdens my heart so much”. The CAN president stated.

Rev. Dr. Ayokunle then urged Nigerians to realize that they serve only one God and the country will be a better place for everyone to live if peace and tolerance is given a chance.

Also speaking, the State CAN Chairman, Rt. Rev. Amos Ogunrinde said the gesture by the Osun Commissioner for Finance is what individuals should emulate across all religious faiths, saying this will go a long way in enhancing religious tolerance.

In his goodwill message, the Akire of Ikire land, Oba Olatunde Falabi, Lambeloye III who prayed for the Commissioner said his good deeds dates back, just as he surprised everybody present by pronouncing Mr Bola Oyebamiji as the new Asiwaju of Ikire land to the delight of everybody.

Explaining why he sponsored the the building of the CAN Secretariat, Mr Bola Oyebamiji gave the credit of his motivation to embark on the project to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola who he described as someone with a good heart.
