Coronation: Ogunsua receives Staff of Authority
…As Oyetola emphasises on sustainable peaceful coexistence
Modakeke, the headquarters of Ife East Area Council of Osun State was agog on Thursday on the occasion of coronation and presentation of instrument of authority to the Ogunsua of Modadeke, Oba Joseph Toriola.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola who presented the staff of Office to Oba Toriola urged the people of the community home and abroad to support and cooperate with the monarch for the development the town.
He congratulated Oba Toriola and also sons and daughters of the town, home and in the diaspora as he wished the town progress and development under the reign of the new king.
Oyetola said “I appeal to people of this community and beyond to continue to sustain peaceful coexistence and the existing peace, shun all acts of violence. I enjoin you all to join hands with the new king for the progress, unity and peace of Modakeke and our government will not relent to play our roles in this regard.”
Speaking, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi described the development as a new dawn in modakeke and the entire ifeland.
Oba Ogunwusi said “I am so elated because the man on the throne is a progressive king. He will bring progress and development to Modakeke. We (Ife and Modakeke) are united and we remain indivisible. We are sustaining and we remain irrevocably committed to the existing peace between the two communities.”
The Oluomo of Modakeke, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole described the Ogunsua as an experienced person with global networks, who has also learnt the rope in terms of culture and tradition having waited for 43 years before ascending the throne.
Kolawole said “if he mixes that with the respect he had while in the service of OAU as a career person, we believe that he will move Modakeke forward. He has a lot of people he will bring on board to make Modakeke great and greater than where we are now.”
We also have firm belief that he’s going to be working with the Ooni of Ife who is a global ambassador for peace to ensure that Modakeke Ifeland knows peace especially now that web political campaigns around, we need it more than ever before.”
Another leader of the community, Oversea Ezekiel Oyeyemi spoke highly of Oba Toriola whom the believe in his leadership.
“He’s born in Modakeke, schooled and worked in Modakeke from the beginning. He’s been progressive ever a a youth, adult and now that that he’s in the position of authority, he will remain progressive. We trust him, we rely on and we believe in him totally,” Oyeyemi said.
