CYMS Partners Dubai based GUFC Sport Services to Boost Youth Empowerment
A pro-government organization, Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) known for its radical approaches towards the development and empowerments of youths in the country has again partnered with an International football academy located in Dubai, the capital city of United Arab Emirates, Gulf United FC to create opportunities for Nigerian youths who have talent in football and other athletics to achieve their dream.
The Dubia based, GUFC Sports Services made thier intention known in an official letter to CYMS with a subject matter “Request for a technical partnership” signed by Mr Mo Jorad the Director, Marketing and Operations of GUFC on 30th May 2021.
In an interview with the Director General of CYMS Mr Obinna Nwaka Friday in Abuja, he said it was imperative for the organisation to work in synergy with GUFC considering to reduce the rate of unemployment which has become a treat in the country, to widen opportunities through which the teeming youths can be gainfully engaged, and one of the areas that Nigerian youths can be engage to promote peaceful coexistence and national unity is the sporting sector which is the major reason the partnership is timely and highly commendable.
Nwaka said that Gulf United has had great successes in the middle east and Europe giving scholarships to young players with over 40 years of experience, adding that their British Coaches will team up with Anyanwu Marcello, former coach of MFM Football Club of Lagos and a Scout for Gulf United for this project.
“This is the first ever GUFC talent hunt in Africa which Nigeria is the first to benefit from this opportunity, they will select 60 players of ages 16 to 20 that have their WAEC and want to play football at a high level and at the same time study as student athletes in USA or Canada” under a scholarship opportunity.
The event will hold in Abuja from 6th to 9th August and Lagos from 13th to 16th August. These states have already be chosen for the screening and assessment of the young players followed with a physical interface with their parents or guardians upon successful selection, he added.
The CYMS has assured the GUFC team of adequate support and also emphasized that Nigeria is safe and ready for such opportunity.
