The federal polytechnic Ede, has matriculated Eleven thousand, five hundred and eight students into various departments in the school at its 31st matriculation ceremony.
The matriculation ceremony which held Friday at north campus of the institution was presided over by the school rector, Dr Sani Man Yahya
While urging the students to uphold the allegiance they pledged, the Rector in his address stated that the administration of oath requires the obedience of the matriculating students to the charter, statutes, policies and regulations that govern the institution.
He charged them to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, examination malpractices, riot, looting, indecent dressing as well as sexual misbehavior, among others.
He maintained that the school will not compromise on its standards for academic excellence, morals and discipline.
Speaking on the needs of the school, Dr. Man Yahaya appealed for support over the ongoing permanent campus of the polytechnic which he said is the priority project for the school.
He said the project which should have been completed was delayed by paucity of funds .
According to him, significant investment has gone into the project while many are still needed.
“The most critical needs at the moment include the completion of the planned projects such as Asphaltic Tarring of specified/identified Roads, Electrification Project for regular power supply, Coaster Buses for Students’ Field Trips and movement from North to south campus, Perimeter Fencing of South Campus and Set of Hostel Building at the South Campus, completion of administrative building, and other infrastructural development.
“I would like to invite spirited and well-meaning philanthropists to support this Polytechnic financially in order to meet our target of fully and beautifully developed Permanent Site to further increase our capacity and to accommodate the increasing demand for candidates seeking admission into this Polytechnic,” he said
He assured thatthe Polytechnic would develop faster if it’s moved to the Permanent site.
The rector stressed that the Polytechnic received a lump sum being loan disbursement made on behalf of 583 students by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
He lauded the intervention and promised that the school will continue to provide necessary support to complement the objectives of the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Tinubu.
He said “The affected students would be notified on the loan disbursement made on their behalf soonest. This program is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to break financial barriers in higher education and to ensure that no eligible Nigerian is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to lack of funds.
“We support and embrace this noble cause of Mr. President and would continue to work collaboratively with the Fund in ensuring interested students of this institution access the fund through the appropriate website.”
The Rector, however charged parents and guardians on prompt payment of fees and other incidental charges to assist the school provide necessary facilities.
Event was attended by dignitaries including the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adeshola Lawal.
