Ede Poly Rectorship: Petinrin Takes Over Acting Role As Adekolawole Bows Out Monday
Dr. Joseph Olawole Petinrin has been appointed Acting Rector, The Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State.
The appointment takes effect from Monday November, 3, 2022 following the election for the position in line with the Provisions of the Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Act 2019.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Registrar & Secretary to the Governing Council, Alhaji Isiaka Tunji Agboola and made available on Friday to the newsmen by the Protocol, Media & Public Relations Officer, Sola Lawal.
The letter reads “Sequel to the Election for the position of Acting Rector and in line with the Provisions of the Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Act 2019, I am pleased to inform you that the Governing Council of the Polytechnic has approved your Appointment as the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic with effect from 3rd November, 2022 pending the appointment of a substantive Rector or for a period of six (6) months, whichever comes first.
“While the Acting Appointment subsists you shall enjoy the full power and authority of the Office of the Rector plus acting allowance that will be paid to you. You will be responsible to the Governing Council of the Polytechnic for your day to day activities.
“Kindly note that all Polytechnic Functionaries and Stakeholders are being informed of this Development accordingly

Meanwhile, at a sendoff event organised for the outgoing rector, Dr. John Adekolawole, the Chairman of Council of the institution, Air Cmdr (rtd) Emmanuel Jekada praised him and enjoined the new acting rector to continue the “good work” from when the rector left.
Jekada said “it is not the beginning that matters but how you end it. I can assure you as the chairman of council of this institution, when I compare him (Adekolawole) with other institutions I found him a worthy, hardworking person. I don’t know how you met this place but with what I have seen, you have made tremendous progress.
“For the one and half year I have spent here with you (Adekolawole) I don’t have any regret, I will only encourage you to continue wherever you find yourself in the near future.
Speaking after being presented with the letter of appointment by the chairman of council, the incoming acting rector, Dr. Petinrin commeded Dr. Adekolawole for all progress attained and all achievements recorded in the institution during his tenure.
Dr. Petinrin also thanked the chairman of council for adopting a democratic process through which he emerged the acting rector.
While urging members of staff and all leadership of various unions in the polytechnic for collaboration in moving the polytechnic forward, the acting rector pledged to continue from where the rector stopped to make it better pending the announcement of a substantive rector.
Reacting to the goodwill messages by some selected members of staff of the polytechnic, Dr. Adekolawole thanked them for their support throughout his tenure and enjoined them to collaborate with the incoming administration.
