FRSC Boss Hails Oyetola On Infrastructural Development

The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, on Thursday lauded the Administration of Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, for transforming the State through massive infrastructural development.

He said the Administration’s commitment to infrastructure had been greatly felt by the Corps as manifested in the massive construction and reconstruction of intra-town, inter-city and inter-state roads across the nooks and crannies of the State.

This is even as the FRSC boss expressed the Corps’ readiness to partner the State in its efforts to advance the State and ensure safety on the roads.

Oyeyemi stated these during his courtesy visit to the Governor alongside other top echelons of the Corps, at Government House, Osogbo, Osun State.

He said the Corps was appreciative of the efforts of the State government toward infrastructure development, an initiative he said had helped to reduce the rate of road mishaps in the state.

Oyeyemi said: “I thank you for the audience. I have been monitoring the development in Osun because I was once the Sector Commander in the State and I knew how the state was then and how it is now with a lot of developments springing up here and there.

“Infact, when I came in, I couldn’t recognise Osogbo again because I couldn’t find my way again as I used to, simply because of many infrastructure development that had taken place particularly in Osogbo.

“With what I have seen since my arrival, your Administration had proved that infrastructure is a legacy that one can bequeath to the people and it is a thing that people can point at. These and many more show your capacity, capability and mission to develop, transform and take the State to enviable heights.

“I must also commend you for your noble gesture and great dexterity displayed alongside your Oyo State counterpart to put a permanent solution to the LAUTECH crisis. This is a milestone achievement as this will go a long way to redefine the institution to recover its lost glory.

“So far so good, I just thank you and your Administration for the timely support to the Corps. We have been receiving the hands of fellowship. You have done so well in all the sectors and I pray God to continue to be with you and your government.”

Oyeyemi who expressed the readiness of the Corps to partner with the State government to record more achievements on road safety, solicited collaboration to ensure the establishment of more driving schools and ambulance ports in the State.

Oyeyemi stated further: “I don’t come to make request but to collaborate with the State because I am in Osun to commission a driving school project in Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, as the first University to build driving school and licence office.

“I think Osun can as well build more stations to complement the one in Osogbo as this gesture will help to generate more revenue for the state because we are ready to partner the State in this regard.

“We are proposing to have three driving schools in each of the three senatorial districts as well as the construction of ambulance ports as part of efforts to boost and strengthen our activities for an improved service delivery.”

In his remarks, Governor Oyetola, applauded the Corps for working tirelessly to sanitise the roads in the country.

He lauded the Corps boss for his unwavering commitment to repositioning the sector as being felt in the reforms being made to rewrite and redefine the Corps for the betterment of the citizens.

“I feel highly honoured to have you this morning. You have done a wonderful job in sanitising the road and you have equally done well in reducing roads mishaps. It is also on record that your leadership has done credibly well in the quest to strengthen the Corps for greater productivity and improved service delivery as seen in the lots of improvement process in the sector.

“We commend you for the way you have been handling accidents on our roads. You are doing a great job in this regard and your educative approach to road usage is commendable and I thank you for saving our roads nationwide.

“As we all know, derivers and other road users are always impatient, but with the high sense of diligence and professionalism being displayed by the officials of the Corps, this has been greatly managed on our roads.

“You have done a very wonderful job and we are appreciative of that. We will look at all you raised, particularly on the matter that has to do with the need to have driving schools and ambulance ports. As you all know, government has no business in business. So, if you have people that can partner with us to achieve this, we will be willing to partner with such individuals or agancies.

“On road signs, we will instruct our signage unit to work with you to achieve the set objective in this regard. Though we have functional and effective ambulance service, with the need to improve on this, we will not hesitate to partner you to improve on this.

“We have a lot of areas to collaborate. I appeal to our people, particularly the road users to be more cautious and to drive safely,” he added.
