Group lauds planned suspension of Aregbesola from APC
…Says ‘it’s long overdue
By SOLA IGBARO.
Apparently worried by the undignifying intervention of the immediate-past Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, in the political firmament of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a socio-political group under the canopy of the party, Dynamic Reformers (DR), has said it would welcome the suspension of Aregbesola and his ilks by the leadership of the party in the state, if indeed such plan existed.
It noted its resolve was informed by the fact that Aregbesola and his ilks have not been adding value to the party but misfortune upon misfortune in the state.
The chairman of the Dynamic Reformers, Mr Durojaiye Olaleke, who is a retired teacher from one of the federal government colleges in the country, stated that due to the verifiable anti-party activities traceable to Aregbesola who was a former two-term governor in the state, his suspension is belated and long overdue.
The apparently furious DR chairman pointed out that Aregbesola has proven himself to be a political malignant tumour who should be surgically separated from the Osun APC before a new lease of life could be breathed into the party in the state.
Olaleke wondered why Aregbesola who has been lucky to be among the most favoured APC members through his appointments as a works commissioner for eight years in Lagos State; Osun State governor for eight years and a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for four years, making up 20 years in an active service as a public officer, could not see the reason to see to the sustainability of the political party that made him what he is today.
The DR chairman who disclosed that he played a prominent role like others during the struggle to reclaim Aregbesola’s stolen governorship mandate between 2007 and 2010 stated that there is nothing to show that he(Aregbesola) is either grateful to God and mankind as well for the accomplishment of his numerous goals in life.
He explained that it is an height of sheer arrogance for Aregbesola to be behaving as if there were no politicians already on ground in Osun State before he was sponsored by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (now President) to be the state governor.
Olaleke said it was paradoxical to observe that Aregbesola and his co-travellers could mastermind the loss of the APC candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for his own selfish reason.
He charged Aregbesola to ruminate in the quietness of the four corners of his room and assess his political journey and it won’t be difficult for him, if he still has conscience, to know that he had offended so many people and that it would take genuine restitution for him to get it right again in politics.
According to the DR chairman: “We in the Dynamic Reformers, a socio-political group under the canopy of the Osun State APC, wish to commend the plans and efforts, if at all there are any, of the leadership of the party in the state to effect the suspension of Aregbesola from the state chapter of our party.
“Despite the fact that Aregbesola had benefited immensely as a commissioner, a governor and a minister from the party, his loyalty to the party by conduct, speeches and association, has not been adding any meaningful value to the party.
“It is no longer news that Aregbesola in the company of his associates at different fora in Osun State, threatened to work against the governorship candidate of the APC, Oyetola, which they actually did.
“It is on record that Aregbesola refused to vote or campaign for any of the APC candidates in the series of the elections that were held in the state last year and this year too.
“The plans to suspend Aregbesola, if indeed it is real, is a good and laudable endeavour in the right direction as his continuous stay in the party will continue to spell doom for the party.
“Let me state here point-blank that we, in the DR, may resort to the suing of the party if the identified political tumour and his Alleluia men and women are not flushed out of the party in good time”, Olaleke warned.
