Judiciary Taking Over Politics In Nigeria – Don

The judiciary is gradually overtaking the Nigerian politics and its affairs due to the inability of party members to settle political issues amicably, Professor Shola Omotola has said.

The Don being a guest lecturer stated this during an Annual public lecture and award presentation event organized by The Nigeria Union of Journalists Zone B held at the NUJ Press centre, Oyo state on Thursday.

Professor Omotola reiterated that political issues should be settled within to discontinue the proclamation of election winner by the court as it ought to be announced after voting.

He further said that the escalation of disagreement between politicians or party members to the court gives room for judicial influence.

A prominent gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele, an awardee during the occasion also acknowledged the efforts of NUJ towards proffering solutions to General Elections and electoral issues.

Ayefele also advised that Journalists should focus on stories that could aid the progress and development of the country, hence the acceptance of brown envelopes should be curbed going forward.

The Chief Press Secretary to Osun State Governor, Ismail Omipidan was one of those was bagged awards at the ceremony.
