Nigeria’s Travails: Ifa Divination Fingers Political Class As Ooni Calls For Caution
The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi has warned political class to steer clear fanning ember of discord, pull-it-down syndrome sharp corruption and other practices threatening the Nigeria’s unity and progress.
This is even as the foremost traditional ruler political leaders to be more committed to service to humanity and responsive to critical issues affecting the social well-being of the masses.
He spoke on Sunday in ile-ife during the occasion of the World lfa Festival which symbolizes the beginning of a new year of adherents of traditional worshippers
Oba Ogunwusi said Ifa divination was the voice of God and its pronunciations must be followed to bring situations under control.
He also said that sacrifices must be offered as prescribed by Orunmila in the Ifa divination to avert evil occurrences.
The Ooni recalled that “In 2019, Ifa said there would be a pandemic but the world paid little or no attention, tagging it as idol worshiping. But the Covid-19 came to prove it right, thank God that we were speared from the evil wave.
“Also last year, Ifa said there would be several agitations like we have across the country today, we have prayed and we shall keep praying.
“In the corpus named OseKaran, Ifa revealed that most of our challenges are the handiwork of desperate politicians. Ifa warned them sternly to desist from their evil ways or wait to face the wrath of Olodumare.
“Above all, Orunmila said there won’t be war and all challenges currently facing us as country would soon be a thing of the past and we shall emerge prosperous very soon”.
On the significance of the event, the monarch said the annual cultural festival was being observed to celebrate and promote African traditional and cultural values believed to have a tie to nature and inherited from the creator through the ancestors.
He lamented little or no knowledge of African indigenous cultural heritage and Religious practice by many people as he pledged to continue to keep the ancient legacies intact and undiluted
He then called on traditional rulers on the sustenance and promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions through festivals and other ancient activities to preserve the heritage for generations yet unborn.
Speaking, the Araba Agbaye of lfa worshippers, Owolabi Awodotun who described the festival as an avenue to atone for iniquities and to appease the Almighty for peaceful co-existence of all mankind, implored Nigerians to embrace peaceful resolution of conflicts in any situation.
He said, among other messages from the revelations of lfa divinity were hope of tranquility and peace for the nation
The festival gave traditional worshippers, cultural enthusiasts and other participants from various places the opportunities to offer prayers to their creator.
