Over three hundred ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have pledged their support for the candidature of Otunba Iyiola Omisore as the party’s governorship candidate in next year’s election.
At a meeting held at Omisore’s campaign office in Osogbo, the chairmen canvassed for him to emerge as the party’s consensus candidate.
They noted that while all aspirants within the APC are qualified, Omisore’s vast experience in administration and politics, both in Osun and beyond, would give the party a greater advantage.
According to them, they are convinced by the blueprint of the Omisore Agenda and promised to intensify grassroots consultations in his favor.
One after another, the chairmen highlighted their challenges and urged the aspirant to prioritize grassroots empowerment if elected as governor.
Speaking at the meeting, former House of Representatives member, Ajibola Famurewa, described Omisore as a reliable politician with the capacity to deliver victory for the party in next year’s election. He urged the ward chairmen to step up their mobilization for Omisore.
Similarly, former Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Bamisayemi, assured the ward executives that Omisore holds them in high esteem and would prioritize their welfare as well as the development of the state if elected.
Addressing journalists, Senator Omisore appreciated the chairmen for their collective support, noting that their consensus endorsement was a clear signal of APC’s readiness for victory at the polls.
He explained that since joining the race, he had met with stakeholders across the nine federal constituencies in the state to intimate them of his ambition.
The APC governorship hopeful encouraged the ward executives to spread his message across the state ahead of the party primaries. He also urged them to promote love and unity in their localities while rallying support for President Bola Tinubu.
Senator Omisore had earlier met with local government party chairmen, council chairmen, and councillors across the state.
