The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State concluded its governorship primary election on Saturday, December 13, 2025, affirming Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Oyebamiji’s emergence followed a motion moved by Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare, which was supported by 1,660 accredited delegates representing 332 wards across the state.
Prior to the motion, initial disqualifications of other aspirants were reversed, leading to a collective agreement for them to step down in favor of Bola Oyebamiji.
Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo who was the Chairman of the Osun APC Primary Election Committee, declared Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s flagbearer in the presence of Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Co-Chairman of the committee.
The event was monitored by representatives of INEC, APC state and national executives, Governors of Delta and Nasarawa states, former Kogi State Governor Yahya Bello, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, and other dignitaries.
One of the governorship aspirants who stepped down for Oyebamiji, Kunle Adegoke SAN had moved the motion for the affirmation and was seconded by another aspirant, Senator Babajide Omoworara.
The Osun State governorship off cycle election has been scheduled to hold on August 8, 2026.
Others who have emerged as candidates of their various political parties included the incubent governor of the State Senator Ademola Adeleke who recently defected to Accord Party, and Mr benga Adebayo of the People’s Democratic Party.
