Osun Development Association Sues For Peace
A non-partisan and development focused organisation of eminent citizens of Osun State , the OSUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ODA) has advised politicians , political parties and all stakeholders in the state to shun utterances and actions capable of causing a breach of peace, violence and mayhem in the state as the gubernatorial election approaches in July this year.
In a statement captioned *Ominous cloud of political violence: A call for peace* signed by the Association’s Chairman, Dr Segun Aina OFR and Secretary, Dr Tunde Aworanti, the association says it views with serious concern the current tension and anxiety in Osun State with regards to political activities preceding the election.
The group condemns what it calls unnecessary political brigandage that could make inter Party and intra party misunderstanding snowball into full bloody crises.
Recalling that the ODA has offered its platform for conflict resolution to successive administrations since its formation in 1995 , the group admonishes politicians and all stakeholders to exercise restraints in their utterances and conduct to prevent further escalation of breach to public peace.
The Osun Development Association commends the recent peace initiative facilitated by the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police where a pact was signed by the representative s of political parties to ensure a violence free election.
