Osun Federal Lawmaker, Oluga Empowers Constituents with Equipment, Cash
Succour came the way of some people of Irewole, Ayedaade and Isokan local government areas of Osun State on Sunday as they benefited from the empowerment programme of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Honourable Taiwo Oluga.
At the empowerment programme which held at Gbongan, the Aiyedaade local government headquarters, beneficiaries went away with working equipment which include 75 motorcycles, 45 deep freezers, 15 hair dryers, 18 grinding machines and 15 sewing machines.
Also, cheques of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) each was presented to four heads of market women known as the Iyalojas for onward distribution to small scale business owners under them as interest free lone.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Taiwo Oluga said the gesture was to complement efforts of the federal government to alleviate poverty in the land.
She added that the empowerment programme was a way of giving back to the society and in fulfillment of her electoral promises.
“Bringing dividend of democracy back to our constituents, I think it is part of our effort to support the federal government in bringing down poverty level.
“It is part of our effort to support the federal level in bringing down the rates at which poverty is really multiplying.
“Number one, if you look at the socio economic effects of what we have done today, the multiplier effects on our people that we have empowered, it will give them ample opportunity to fend for their family and to make them to be independent.
“And for even those that will be using the tools at their stores, at their shops, at the market, you can be sure this will go a long way in reducing redundancy , in reducing sitting down at home, and depression and frustration.
“I want to see my federal constituency being out of poverty in the nearest future, but we can not say that alone, what we can do is to assist them in their jobs, especially the artisans that is why we have included them in what we have done today.
“This empowerment is not about political party, it is across board. I believe by the time we do this repeatedly, our federal constituency, our state and country will be out of poverty.” Oluga stated.
In an interview with newsmen, the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, lauded the lawmaker Oluga for giving back to her Constituents through the empowerment programme targeting alleviation of poverty.
Famodun who described the gesture as as one of the best ways to bring dividend of democracy to the people noted that other lawmakers in the party have done the same, urging them all to keep the flag flying.
The Southwest Secretary of the APC, Ayo Afolabi said he knew that Hon. Oluga would perform form day one but she has also beaten his imagination with the level at which she has performed.
Also, the Osun State Commissioner for Finance, Bola Oyebamiji as well as a former Commissioner for Commerce, Jaiyeoba Algbagbo praised the federal lawmakers for putting smile on the faces on her constituents while she was also making the party proud.
One of the beneficiaries, Adedoyin Olaleye thanked Hon. Oluga for the opportunity given them to improve their economic powers through the empowerment.
Adedoyin noted that the constituency has not for once regretted voting Hon. Oluga as the lawmaker representing them, promising that the constituents would replicate in due course.
