No fewer than 880 vulnerable residents of Ila Local Government Area of Osun received the stimulus package initiated by the Government of the State of Osun to mitigate the excruciating condition of the citizens due to the adverse effects of the global Coronavirus pandemic.
The beneficiaries of the scheme who could not hide their euphoria burst into jubilation and showered encomiums on Governor Oyetola and prayed God to continue to support his government in its quest to sustain the scheme.
This is even as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Adebisi Obawale, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ismail Omipidan, reafirmed the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s commitment to social protection programmes.
Recall that the State government had on Thursday flagged off the food support scheme to effect immediate distribution to vulnerable citizens across the nooks and crannies of the 30 Local Government Areas of the State and one Area Office.
According to the Government, 30,000 vulnerable citizens drawn from the social register of the State would benefit from the gesture.
Presenting the stimulus package to the beneficiaries at the Ila-township hall, Orangun’s palace square, Dr. Obawale said the Administration of Governor Oyetola would continue to champion the welfare and well-being of the citizens.
He assured the people, particularly the residents, of equity and fairplay stressing that the distribution would be made in accordance with the distribution rule to ensure that it gets to the targeted beneficiaries.
He said : “We have a Committee for this exercise, comprising religious leaders, Civil Society Organisations, persons living with disabilities, students, members of the political parties and women, among others.
“As you can see, we have all of them seated and we will ensure that every targeted beneficiary takes home his or her package,” he added.
Also, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Ismail Omipidan, assured of seamless distribution of the food item.
He reiterated the commitment of the Administration of Governor Oyetola to ensuring the sustainability of the scheme, which according to him, would go a long way to eradicate poverty, hunger and starvation in the society.
Lauding the peaceful process of the distribution, some of the beneficiaries extolled the government for thinking the scheme through.
The beneficiaries who described the gesture as impressive renewed their support for the government come rain, come sunshine.
