Osun LG Poll: 69 APC Council Chairmanship, 393 Councilorship Candidates Receive Cert. Of Return
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission has declared all the 69 chairmanship and 393 councillorship candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress as winners of Saturday’s local government election in the state.
They are to represent 30 local government areas, 32 local council development authority are and 7 area councils.
Chairman of OSIEC, Segun Oladitan, announced the results of the election on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Oladitan also issued Certificates of Return to the elected council chairmen during the event which took place within the premises of the commission.
He said all the 393 candidates of them APC were returned unopposed while the chairman were duly elected through a Yes or No vote.
He said “having fulfilled the requirements of the Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the electoral act 2022 and the Law of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, 2022.”
Oladitan said the issuance of Certificate of Returns and declaration of winners was done in line with Section 35 of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission 2022 Act and Sections 105(1) and 106 (1) (a)(b) of the Electoral Act.
He said: “I have the privilege to announce to you that the candidates, having fulfilled the requirements of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Law of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, 2022, are hereby declared and returned unopposed in their respective Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas and Area Councils.”
Speaking in separate interviews with Daily Mail, some of the chairmen, including Hon. Yera elugbaju, Hon. Adebiyi Adedayo and hon. Maruf Ogundipe pledged that they will not take the confidence reposed in them for granted just as they sought support of the people for the administration to be successful.
