Osun PDP Gets New Factional Acting Chairman, Ojo

A new factional acting State chairman has been appointed through the resolution of some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.

Hon. Wale Ojo was said to have been appointed to fill the vacuum created by the former State Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo who resigned after he emerged the Southwest Chairman of the party.

The Stakeholders from all the 30 local government and the Area council said the move became necessary sequel to a State High court order recognising and affirming that all actions taken by Adagunodo while in office as chairman were valid and legal.

The new acting chairman said it is time for everyone in the party to work together as one big family, saying he would ensure that all members are on the same page.

Present at a Stakeholders meeting held on Friday were three aspirants of the party namely, Akin Ogunbiyi, Fatai Akinbade and Sanya Omirin.

Speaking, Akinbade said the stakeholders have been able to reorganise the party and there has been peace in the State since the removal of Prince Uche Secondus who allegedly chose not to follow the party’s constitution.

“We thank God that we have been able to reorganise the party. There has been peace in the PDP since Secondus was removed. If he were to be there till today, he would have ruined the party.

“What we are doing today is in line with the constitution of our party. The congresses we had before now were not recognised by the national secretariat. The report of the Appeal committee was that there were parallel congresses in Osun and we should go back and harmonise. That was the recommendation of the appeal committee.

“But with the court order which validated Adagunodo’s chairmanship, the next thing since he has resigned is to follow the constitution of our party to replace him in line with the constitution of the party which stipulates that the person must come from his zone.

In the same vein, Hon. Omirin said it is normal for the stakeholders to ensure that there is no vacuum at the driver seat of the party, calling on everyone to come on board and move the party forward.

“Our gathering here is not to witch-hunt anybody, it is to follow the constitution. We must all come together to build the party. We are ready to bring everybody on board. Those of the delegates here are the authentic delegates. If they come and join us, they will be coopted.”

Also speaking, Ogunbiyi said “the most important is that we followed our constitution in doing this. Whoever says the constitution will not work is trying to destroy the party.

“Everything that was done by Adagunodo until he resigned was authentic based on the based on the court judgement. According to our party constitution, when the chairman resigns, his replacement will come from within his zone and that’s exactly what we did here.”

When contacted, the public relations officer of Sunday Bisi led executive, Bamidele Olabamiji said Bisi remains the PDP State chairman, saying those that branded themselves as stakeholders should not be taken serious.
