Governor Ademola Adeleke has been eulogized for his pro- activeness in ensuring that Osun retains its position as the safest state in Nigeria.

Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Hon . Gani Olaoluwa gave the commendation while declaring open a one day workshop for unconventional security groups in the State.

The workshop which held at the State Development Centre, Abere, afforded the Commissioner the opportunity to explain the rationale behind the workshop.

With the theme “Security Consciousness and Crime Prevention/Distribution of Essential Working Tools” Hon. OlaOluwa said it was put together to enable the groups understand the nitty gritty of efficient and effective community policing, so as to sanitise the society from disgruntled elements.

In their separate lectures, Retired AIG, Olafimihan Adeoye and a security expert, Mr Olatidoye Gbadegesin, contended that security of lives and property is a responsibility of all for the total safety of the society.

The duo enjoined the attendees of the workshop to always endeavour to complement the painstaking efforts of security agencies at preventing people from taking laws into their hands and ensuring that lives and properties are secured.

Also speaking , the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr, Oladapo Fashina advised the non-state actors, such as the vigilante groups and local hunters to replicate the State Government’s gesture by passing the knowledge garnered at the workshop to their colleagues in their respective LGAs.

Reacting separately, the Oluode of Osogbo land, Chief Okeloye Tajudeen and Commandant of the Vigilante group in Osun,Mr Bello Aderemi while appreciating the good works of Senator Adeleke in the state, pleaded with him to accord the local hunters their rightful place in the scheme of things in order to give them a sense of belonging.

He told the governor the imperativeness of getting VGN members employed just like the Western NigerianSecurity Network, popularly known as Amotekun with good renumeration for optimum performance.

Highlight of the program was the distribution of essential working tools for effective service delivery
