Oyindamola Akindele, a respected Software Engineer and Java Developer, launched a tech training initiative in Lagos, designed to introduce young aspiring developers to the world of programming.
The two-month programme held in Lagos from March till May 2023 focused on Java development, one of the most versatile and in-demand programming languages used across industries today.
The training, which combined hands-on learning with real-world problem-solving, attracted dozens of enthusiastic young minds eager to break into the tech space. Akindele’s approach to teaching—practical, engaging, and mentorship-driven—helped many of the participants not only understand the basics of Java but also build confidence in their abilities to pursue a tech career.
In a brief chat during the programme, Oyindamola shared: “This is more than just code—it’s about building a mindset. I want these young people to see that tech is not out of reach. With dedication and the right guidance, they can build solutions, start careers, and even create jobs.”
His passion for mentoring the next generation was evident as he moved from table to table, offering personalized support and cheering on student breakthroughs.
Participants expressed appreciation for the impact the training had on them. One attendee said, “Before this programme, I had never written a single line of code. Now I’ve built a basic Java application, and I can see a future for myself in tech.”
By the end of the programme, Akindele had not only taught Java syntax and logic but also planted seeds of innovation, resilience, and self-belief in every participant.
With efforts like this, Oyindamola Akindele is proving to be a changemaker in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem—bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, one young mind at a time.
