…Charges them to galvanize support for Atiku’s emergence as president
The Atiku/Okowa Southwest Students Movement, a students wing of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been inaugurated on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Coordinators of Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos States led their members from different campuses to the inauguration which held at the Osun State party Secretariat of the PDP in Osogbo.
Inaugurating the Movement, the Senior Special Assistance, SSA to Delta State Governor on Students Affairs, and Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Comrade Jerry Ehiwarior, charged the students to go back to their various campuses to canvass and gavanize support for Atiku/Okowa’s presidency.
Ehiwarior said the PDP is aware that the students are passionate about the 2023 general elections and must be actively involved and participate in the processes of choosing the next leaders to direct the affairs of the country.
He said “the charges is for them (students) to go round the campuses as far as Southwest is concerned to set up the structure across the board and of course we know that the students are so passionate about next year, and as such they all have their PVCs. That’s why today we are changing them to go back to set up their campus canvasers to see how they can get maximum support for our party and for our presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.
“Of course we are very much aware of the reality on ground, how our students spent almost 8 months at home before they were able to resume. By God’s grace the Atiku/Okowa presidency is one that is going to give hope to our students.
“We trust the people of Southwest, they love education to the core and they know the antecedent of Atiku and they also know that of Okowa. Okowa has been able to midwive 3 higher institutions in Delta State, that has made education accessible to Deltans.”
Representative of the state acting chairman of the PDP, Azim Abioye assured the students wing of the party of inclusiveness both at the State and under the Atiku/Okowa presidency at the federal levels.
He said the acting chairman of the party Dr. Adekunle Akindele has promised to carry the students along in all the affairs of the party as critical stakeholders.
“You all are can attest to the fact that the state leadership of the party under Dr. Adekunle Akindele has been taken the affairs of youths and students very serious. If someone like me can be a party of the state leadership, part of the state caretaker committee, part of the inauguration committee, we should all know that youths and students have assurance under the PDP and especially under the Atiku/Okowa presidency.
Osun State Coordinator, Southwest Atiku/Okowa Students Movement, comrade Saheed Afolabi said with Atiku Abubakar as president, the experience of 8 months strike by the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU would become a thing of the past.
He said “it’s expedient to have a change of government at the federal level. We have personal conviction and commitment to work with the party in each of the six state of the Southwest to ensure that our party emerges in the forthcoming general elections.
“It is imperative to note that we have resolved among ourselves to intensify our effort with the leadership of the party in Osun state under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke to mobile maximum support towards the emergency of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the next president of Nigeria.”
