Police Foil Kidnappers’ Attempt To Abduct Passengers On Akure-Ilesa Expressway
The Osun State Police Command has said it had foiled kidnap attempts to abduct passengers on Akure/Ilesha road.
In a statement on Sunday signed by the state Police public relations officer, SP Opalola Yemisi said kidnappers suspected to be bandits came out of the bush and attempted to rob and kidnap the motorists along Akure/Ilesha road by Iwaraja on Saturday at about 6pm.
The Police spokesperson said with the quick intervention of the Police, Joint Task Force (JTF), and local security outfits, they couldn’t rob or kidnap anyone.
“It is true that people that were suspected to be Bandits came out of the bush and attempted robbing the motorists along Akure/Ilesa road, by Iwaraja on 22/05/2021 at about 1800 hours.
“But for the quick intervention of the Police, JTF & the local security outfits, they couldn’t rob or kidnap anyone.
“The owners of those vehicles later came out and carried the vehicles away. The DPO Ijebu Jesa really tried in that operation as the witnesses and the DPO Ipetu Jesa that came to the road also told me,” she said.
While reacting to the viral video on the incident, she said: “The man talking in the video thought that they have carried the drivers away, not knowing that, those people ran away to safety. They hid themselves somewhere & later came out, the Police were with them until the last vehicle left.
The police is currently on an intensive manhunt to get them arrested.
