Police In Osun Arrest Soldiers Who Attempts To Release Detained Cultists From Custody

Three soldiers who were alleged to have invaded a police post in Obelawo area in Osogbo Tuesday night to free their colleague and cultists detained by the police have been arrested.

The soldiers went to the station to get their colleague and some suspected cultists kept in the custody released in an unruly behavior and they were arrested by the police, Prowling Eagles findings revealed

Security report has it that, the Tactical Unit of Anti-Cultism set up by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode through distress call effect the arrest of the soldiers.

Findings however, revealed that the soldiers/policemen faceoff was as a result of an attempt by one soldier now in detention to get one of the suspected cultists that were arrested on bail in an unruly manner and he was rebuffed by the police.

Unknown to the policemen, the soldier had called on his colleagues who came to the station to forcefully release their colleague and cultists, but they were overpowered, arrested and taken to the State CID.

Osun State spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident, saying investigation is ongoing at the SCID.
