Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has promised a donation of One Billion Naira for the beautification of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun State.

The wife of the president stated this during an event that preceeded the inauguration of 2.7km Road and Hostels constructed and built within the campus of OAU by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

She praised the monarch for the construction of the 2.7 Kilometer Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, the Ultra-modern male and female Ojaja hostels and Ojaja Pavillion.

She said “Roads have always been a symbol of progress which opens up pathways to safety and economic growth. It is my hope that this road will become a valuable asset for the University and facilitate easy access for the students and the entire University community.

“The significance of continuous infrastructure renewal cannot be overemphasized in creating a conducive academic environment. I appreciate the leadership of the University for making this day a reality.”

Speaking, Ooni Ogunwusi noted that named after the first Lady is a symbol of “many paths she has opened for the youth, women, and the underprivileged in our society.”

He said “The biggest hostel and pavilion in the history of Obafemi Awolowo University that bears her name represents her efforts to create spaces of learning, development, and empowerment for all.

“Obafemi Awolowo University, as a center of excellence in education, research, and leadership, mirrors the values that Senator Oluremi Tinubu who left the university campus 39 Years ago, has consistently upheld throughout her career.

“By naming these landmarks project after her, we are ensuring that her legacy will remain visible to future generations of Nigerians who will walk through these grounds.

“My commitment to celebrate her on this unique occasion is to let the whole world know that she is deserving to be acknowledged as a contributor to Nigeria advancement.”

Osun State governor who was represented by his Deputy, Kola Adewusi promised his administration’s support for the policies and programme of the Federal Government.
