Reportage: Journalists Urged To Put Nigeria

Journalists have been urged to put the development and unity of the country at the front burner in the course of reporting happenings, especially, as the nation prepares for the handing over of reigns of power from one administration to another.

Director, Department of State Services, Osun State Command Bankole Alade gave the charge while receiving in audience, Executive Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, who paid him a courtesy visit.

Mr.Bankole Alade, who promised to continue to sustain cordial relationship between journalists and his agency in the state, reiterated the important roles both establishments play in ensuring sane and crime free society, added that journalists have significant roles to play in uniting already fragmented society.

He called for sharing of vital information between journalists and security agencies to stem the tide of criminal activities in the state.

Responding, the State Chairma of NUJ, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu promised to ensure a cordial synergy between journalists and DSS in the course of discharging their various duties.

In a separate development, media practitioners have been urged not to relent at propagating activities of Osun State University by projecting its name as one of the best state-owned citadel of learning in the country.

Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University,Prof. Clement Odunayo Adebooye made the call in his office while receiving the executive committee of the NUJ.

Prof.Adebooye said the university has not relent at reaching for the best since his assumption of office as head of the university over a year ago.

While appreciating the NUJ chairman for his quality and exemplary leadership qualities which earned him another term in office said the citadel of learning has continue to grow to world standard while gradually implementing agenda already set for its development.

Chairman,Osun NUJ, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu assured of the willingness of journalists in the state to continually support the university when necessarily.
Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu was accompanied on the visit by other members of his executive committee.
