RUWESA Will Reclaim Lost Glory – Lanre Odelade
The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Rural Water and Environmental Sanitation Agency RUWESA, Hon Lanre Odelade has expressed optimism on the capacity of the agency to positively respond to the state government policy on clean water supply and environmental safety.
The Special Adviser was speaking at a brainstorming session with the management and consultants of RUWESA to consider the implementation of a roadmap to rebrand the Agency for the task of ensuring a wholesome and secured environment for people in the state.
The session featured departmental presentations of statutory duties and key functions of the Agency and it’s relationships with it’s development partners.
Hon Odelade disclosed that the session is expected to prepare grounds for the Agency to fulfil the cardinal goal of making RUWESA self financing and regaining it’s lost glory as an instrument of global environmental compliance.
The session critically examined the agency’s seven core Programs, and factors that have inhibited optimal delivery of it’s mandate in the twelve years of APC Administration and the way forward.
Hon Odelade said measures will be taken to project the agency’s core Programs such as ODF environmental sanitation, ADB funded quality laboratory water distilling, Clean Nigeria, water drilling schemes, WOSCOM technical training and maintenance,UNICEF/ EU sponsored trainings, seminars and workshops by the instrumentality of the media.
He believes that reactivating the agency’s core Programs will stimulate the confidence and support of it’s foreign partners who have withdrawn their collaboration as a result of the hostile attitude of the ApC Governments in Osun state.
The General Manager of RUWESA mr Olanrewaju Adebayo used the session to restate the agency’s preparedness to fulfil it’s objectives of a secured and healthy environment for the people.
He remarks that Government will power can rijig the agency in the successful execution of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s five point agenda, particularly in the areas of clean water, personal and environmental hygiene as well upgrade of health facilities.
The brain storming session also had contributions from two consultants, Mr Segun Moyinoluwa,a former Director of the Agency and Olusola Ajiboye, a former Director of Osun state broadcasting corporation, both of whom keyed into the agency’s rebranding action plan and the imperatives of Government support to win back the confidence of it’s developing partners.
The brain storming session is a prelude to the production of a benchmark of efficient service delivery by RUWESA and a document for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s approval of a Road Map for a healthy and secured environment in Osun state.
