Tajudeen Lawal Confirmed Osun APC Acting Chairman
The leadership of All Progressive Congress, APC in Osun has announced Prince Tajudeen Lawal Olaniyi as the acting Chairman of the party.
The Chairmanship position of the party became vacant following the appointment of the then Chairman, Gboyega Famodun as the new Owa of igbajo.
The decision was reached during a closed door meeting of some party leaders including former governor Gboyega Oyetola.
It was agreed that Sooko Lawal who was the Deputy Chairman to the former Chairman has statutory right to hold forth as the acting Chairman of the party pending confirmation as a substantive Chairman.
Appreciate the gesture of Oyetola and other party leaders, the new acting chairman of APC in Osun State promised to work with other Central Working Committee (CWC) and other party members to ensure APC regains his mandate at the judiciary.
He called on all members of the party to summon courage and focus on the way to successful reclaim the mandate of Gboyega.
Sooko Tajudeen Lawal Olaniyi who hails from Ile Ife, in Ife East local government area of Osun state was born into the family of a devoted Muslim over five decades ago.
He attended both elementary and secondary education in Ile Ife and obtained his first and second degree at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife Osun state.
Sooko Lawal started his political journey in 1992 when he joined Social Democratic Party (SDP) Okerewe 2, Ife East Local Government where he later served as the ward secretary of the party
In the year 1995 during the Zero political party, he was a local delegate, also a Youth Leader of Afenifere Ife/Ijesha Constituency.
In the year 2002, Lawal with magical wind was one of those that were instrumental to the rebirth of Alliance for Democracy (AD) when the party was in Comatose due to serious political crisis that saw many leaders exiled, and he was a Member, State Campaign Committee of Alliance for Democracy, (AD) in Osun State in year 2003, also a Youth Leader, Ife East Local Government Osun State in the same year.
Lawal didn’t give up even when the AD was an opposition for Seven and half years, Peoples’ Democratic party government in the state, he Contested under Alliance for Democracy as Ife East Local Government Chairman in 2004.
In the year 2011 Alhaji Lawal was appointed as Chairman, Ife East Local Government where he worked with all zeal to ensure the local council was elevated and brought to limelight within a year.
He was also appointed as Executive Secretary, Ife East Local Government between 2012-2016
He was appointed Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs and special needs between 2019-2021.
He was elected Deputy State Chairman, APC 2021 and now appointed as the acting chairman of the All progressives Congress.
