Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, has raised concerns about the influx of terrorists from the North East and North West regions, which he believes is fueling insecurity in the North Central, including his state.
Speaking to newsmen after a meeting with the National Working Committee in Abuja, Governor Ododo attributed the influx to the military’s operations against terrorists in the North East and North West.
“The recent influx of criminals is the result of the pushback from the North East and North West,” he said.
Despite this challenge, the governor assured that his administration is committed to protecting citizens’ lives and property, emphasizing that they are dealing decisively with security threats.
“We are dealing with them decisively. They are hearing it. We don’t make noise… We are very comfortable. We have sworn to protect the lives and livelihoods of our people,” he said.
The governor’s remarks come two days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited Benue State to commiserate with the people over the recent killings in Yelwata.
