Tinubu, Famurewa Tour UBE Projects in Osun Federal Constituency
The leadership of the Bureau of Social Services and the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board held a joint inspection of educational facilities in public schools across Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency.
This was in line with the need to ensure that contractors handling various UBEC/SUBEB intervention programmes in the State comply with set standards.
The team was led by the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa and the Director General of BOSS, Mr. Richard Tinubu.
At NUD Primary School, Otan Ayegbaju, the team inspected the repair and renovation works carried out on 3-Blocks of classrooms which was carried out under the UBEC/ SUBEB 2018 Intervention.
The team observed that some of the suspended ceiling were already sagging and called on the contractor handling the project to return to site and make necessary corrections.
They were also in Ila Orangun for an on-the-spot assessment on a block of 4-classrooms, 2 offices and 6 toilets at the Community Primary School, Oke Omi Funfun.
The Surveillance and Monitoring team expressed satisfaction at the quality of work done so far and urged the contractor whose workers were seen doing the terrazzo work to expedite action and complete the project in record time.
They equally visited Community High School, Igbajo where they empathized with the community over the degree of dilapidation that has happened to the school.
Members of the community who conducted the leaderships of BOSS and SUBEB round various blocks of classrooms that were blown off by storm appealed to the State Government to come to their rescue.
Chairman of SUBEB said the State Government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola who is passionate about the development of education would carry out necessary repairs in the school in the next round of UBEC/SUBEB intervention in the areas of renovation of classrooms, provision of water and toilet facilities.
At Ifedayo Local Government Education Authority office, Oke Ila, the team assured the staff of positive turnaround on the building that was partly blown off by windstorm.
Speaking at the end of the inspection, the DG BOSS, Mr. Richard Tinubu said the exercise was necessary and in line with the oversight function of the Bureau.
He lauded Governor Oyetola for the huge investment in education, provision of infrastructural facilities as well as social intervention and empowerment.
Tinubu noted that the importance of supervision cannot be overemphasized as this would enable the end users get the right value from the projects, programmes and policies of the government, making life better for the people.
He appealed to residents of the State to continue to support the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola beyond 2022.
