2024 Iragbiji Day: Planning Committee Rolls Out Chains of Activities, Says Preparations In Top Gear
…grand finale holds Saturday 16th of November
The grand finale of the year 2024 annual Iragbiji Day which is the 33rd edition of its kind will hold next week Saturday, 16th of November.
This was disclosed at a press conference addressed by the stakeholders of the community preparatory towards the various activities lined up to make the celebration eventful.
Addressing newsmen, the chairman, media and publicity committee of the 33rd Iragbiji day, Dr. Jimoh Olorede Noted that the week-long programme was Kickstarted with the press conference after which a Radio programme and Sunday Church Service would follow on Sunday.
According to him, environmental sanitation would be observed on Monday, 10th while a fitness walk tagged ‘Walk To Live’ to led by the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rashhed Olabomi, would hold on Tuesday, 11th of November.
He said “on Wednesday, 12th of November, the final round of Football Match whose tournament had earlier begun, will be held at Oke-Iragbiji Grammar School in the evening. Aside from the fact that Iragbiji is blessed with vibrant, agile, able and capable youth, we love sports in Iragbiji, especially Football, which is usually an aspect of the ceremony marking the celebrations of our Annual Day.
“On Thursday, 13th of November, there will be Royal Blessings by His Majesty, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, who is presently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNNAB). Members of the Planning Committee, and indeed, all members of Iragbiji Development Association, at home and in the Diaspora, will receive royal blessings from Kabiyesi. This, of course, also extends to all our invited guests to the celebration of our Day, as Oba Olabomi’s royal grace continues to permeate over our Town, all indigenes and friends and well-wishers of Iragbiji.
“Juma’at Prayer and Honours & Awards Ceremony: On Friday, 15th of November, Juma’at Prayer Service will be held here in Iragbiji, to further commit this year’s event of the Day onto the protective Hands of God. Also very importantly, another prominent programme, Iragbiji Honours and Awrads Ceremony with a separate Committee set up by His Royal Majesty Aragbiji, and headed by Otunba Abdur-Wahab Adewoyin, will hold in the afternoon at Muraina Oyelami Hall here in Iragbiji. Prominent illustrious indigenes of Iragbiji, amongst whom are four professors, other notable scholars, distinguished community leaders, and successful big business owners, will be conferred with celebratory awards of excellence in recognition of their exploits in their different areas of practice.”
Speaking, Chairman Of Iragbiji Development Association, (IDA), Dr Lateef Raheem noted that the town had been able to put in place many development projects from the proceeds of the previous Iragbiji Day celebrations.
He said other development projects such as the renovation of the Town Hall, construction of parvellion within the palace and construction of the proposed civic center for the town have been identified as the next to be embarked upon after the celebration.
Also at the press conference were the chairman planning committee as well as the chairman, Honours and Awards Committee who spoke on the preparedness of their separate committees.
