KWARA STRIKE: NO END IN SIGHT

There is no and in sight to the industrial action embarked on by workers in Kwara State as they protested on Thursday insisting that the new minimum wage must be paid before they can call of their strike.

Meanwhile, the State Governor, Abdulraman Abdulrasaq had also insisted that the State cannot afford to pay N30,000 minimum wage based on its economic realities.

On Thursday morning workers converged on the labour house, Ilorin, Kwara State to deliberate on the ongoing strike.

The congress was called by the labour leaders to feed members back on their meeting with the state government.

Members were obviously not satisfied with the outcome of their leaders’ meeting with the government.

They insisted that they will not go back to work except the state government accede to their demand.

Some residents of the state who spoke with Daily Mail want both the government and Labour to come to term and end the impasse once and for all.

A member of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Dr Jimoh Ahmed appealed to the two parties to shift ground in the interest of the larger society.
