Ten months after the tragic death of Emmanuel Osagie following the discovery of his alleged same-sex affair, the Ugbighoko community in Benin City has reportedly declared his alleged partner, Elijah Okewole, wanted.

Sources within the community suggest that Mr. Okewole, who fled the area after the incident, is now being sought as a sacrifice for alleged calamities befalling the community since his departure.

The initial incident, which occurred in May 2024, involved Mr. Osagie, a Benin native, and Mr. Okewole, who had moved to Benin for work.

Despite both being married with children, they reportedly engaged in a secret sexual relationship. Their affair was allegedly discovered by Mr. Osagie’s wife at his home, according to a source close to the family.

Following the discovery, Mr. Okewole is said to have fled to Lagos to avoid potential repercussions.

Tragically, Mr. Osagie faced the wrath of his family and community. The source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Mr. Osagie was brutally killed.

“Later on that evening, Osagie was taken by his family, paraded naked through the community, and subjected to severe beating and torture, ultimately leading to his death,” the source stated.

The source further claimed that this was not an isolated incident, recalling a previous event in December where two men caught in a same-sex act were allegedly killed in front of their families.

“They claimed their blood must be split,” the source chillingly recounted.

“Bisexual is an abomination in this community, everyone knows that also in Nigeria. This community leader does not take it lightly with anyone. It is an act of abomination and punishment is fatal.”

Now, nearly a year after Mr. Okewole’s escape, the community is reportedly demanding his return.

Sources indicate that they believe his absence is linked to misfortunes plaguing the community and are seeking him as a sacrifice to appease perceived spiritual unrest.
