The Baba Adini of Osun State, Abdulfatai Adesina Kolawole, on Thursday chaired a grand thanksgiving and reception organised by a group of associates under the Think Tank Committee of Federal Polytechnic Ayede to honour the institution’s immediate past rector and pioneer bursar.

The event, which drew academics, traditional rulers, religious leaders and public officials from within and outside the state, celebrated the contributions of Taofeek Adekunle Abdul Hameed and Rasheedat Titilola Oladepo to the development of the polytechnic.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kolawole described leadership as an amanah (sacred trust), stressing that it must be exercised with “integrity, accountability and the fear of God.”

“This gathering is not merely about retirement,” he said. “It is about celebrating two individuals whose service embodies discipline, responsibility and excellence.”

He commended Abdul Hameed for what he called a blend of administrative competence and spiritual depth, noting that “true leadership is guided not only by knowledge but also by noble character.”

Kolawole also praised Oladepo for her prudence and transparency in managing the institution’s finances, saying such virtues are “critical to institutional growth and public confidence.”

The Baba Adini further lauded the Think Tank Committee for supporting the honourees throughout their tenure. “Your commitment and loyalty represent a shining example of sincere friendship and service,” he said.

He also acknowledged the families of the honourees for their sacrifices and support over the years.

In his closing remarks, Kolawole offered prayers for the celebrants, asking God to “accept their good deeds, forgive their shortcomings, and grant them good health and long life to continue serving humanity.”

The event featured a keynote lecture by Shuiab Shittu Osunleke, who highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in advancing education, and prayers led by Nurayn Abdul Azeez.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Father of the Day, Musibau Oladepo Adelasoye; the Royal Father of the Day, Garba Abdul Salam; and the Special Guest of Honour, Waheed Olajire, who represented the Oluwo of Iwo.

Also present was Muritala Adekulekun K Jimoh, alongside other stakeholders from academia, government and the private sector.

The ceremony was anchored by Adekunle Rasheed Tijani.

Organisers said the reception was designed not only to celebrate the honourees but also to inspire future leaders to uphold integrity, service and excellence.
