Governor Oyetola talks tough, says government will not watch peace of Osun truncated
Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has said that the government will not watch and allow any individual or group to truncate peace of the State.
Oyetola spoke on Monday at the Governor’s office in Osogbo during ‘a thank you welcome’ by workers in appreciation of the recently announced new package relating to their welfare.
He said the government is working hard to maintain peace and ensure that the state is the most peaceful in the comity of State, warning that whoever is trying to disturb the peace will be strictly dealt with.
He revealed that security agencies have been instructed to deal with anybody who is caught disturbing the peace of the State.
“It is unfortunate that people don’t seem to appreciate the need to ensure that we have peaceful atmosphere to work.
“We are struggling to put the state as one of the best States in the comity of States in Nigeria, some people for whatever reason, either political or otherwise are there making attempt to truncate all the efforts not because they have anything to offer but they believe to destabilise the government is something that is of pride to them.
“But I want to say this, and I have said it that they should not take us for granted. We’ve tolerated all of this because we believe we want to ensure that the youth who embark on peaceful protest are not victims of all these people planing their own things different from peaceful process”.
“I have instructed the security agencies to fish out those people who are planning to disturb the peace of the State and they will be dealt with accordingly”.
“I m appealing to parent to ensure that their wards do not join these groups, they are tiny group but they are creating so much problems for the State. We won’t tolerate it any longer”.
On his rousing welcome, Oyetola who acknowledged workers’ gesture by showing appreciation to him, urged them to pay back by increasing productivity.
He noted that the State needs money to meet up with the financial obligation which can only be met by increased Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
The Governor had on Friday approved implementation of the National minimum wage for levels one to six workers in the State.
He also lifted embargo on salary increase, promotion and conversion to take immediate effect.
